Thank you for your interest in award-winning Costa Rican adventures with Rios Tropicales.   You may reserve a trip online, or by emailing or calling us directly. If you have any questions that are not answered on our FAQ page, please do not hesitate to contact us, our friendly, bilingual reservations staff is here to help you!

Reservation Policies

  • All prices are subject to change without notice.
  • If reserved through a travel agent, a voucher must be presented before boarding.
  • If reserved directly in our offices please provide invoice.
  • Please be on time at your specified pickup hotel.

 

Cancellation Policies

 

All trips follow this cancellation policy unless otherwise indicated on the trip description.  Trips with lodging booked at non-Rios Tropicales lodging venues, often have longer cancellation requirements. In order to receive full refund for your cancellation you must cancel before 4 p.m. the day before trip departure.

  • For groups (8+) cancellation must be made 3 days before the trip.
  • If circumstances beyond our control(bad weather, natural disasters, road closures, etc.) We reserve the right to cancel or modify reservations and/or make partial refund
  • Trips go, rain or shine.
  • NO REFUNDS FOR NO SHOWS.

  • During LOW SEASON, all cancellations will need to be made 30 days before the date of the reservation. Cancellations done in fewer than 30 days before the client’s arrival will be subject to a $25 US charge for reservation management per room. Cancellation made fewer than 15 days before the clients arrival will be considered a NO-SHOW and full charges will be applied.
  • During HIGH SEASON, no refunds will be given for cancellations made fewer than 30 days before the client’s arrival.

Recommended Gear

Day Rafting Trips

 

  • Rubber-soled shoes that can get wet (Tevas, tennis shoes, booties or similar).
  • Swimsuit / swim trunks.
  • T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material. Long sleeve t-shirts are very useful if you get cold easily on the water or want more sun protection.
  • Water-resistant sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or higher).
  • Sun hat or bandana.
  • Bug Repellent.
  • Croakies or straps to secure glasses.
  • Change of clothes, including shoes, for after your tour.
  • Towel for changing/showers after the trip.
  • Any prescription medications necessary during your tour.
Day Adventure Trips (Biking, Kayak touring)

 

  • Water bottle
  • Bug Repellent.
  • Swimsuit / swim trunks.
  • T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material. Long sleeve t-shirts are very useful if you get cold easily on the water or want more sun protection.
  • Water-resistant sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or higher).
  • Sun hat or bandana.
  • Croakies or straps to secure glasses.
  • Change of clothes, including shoes, for after your tour.
  • Towel for changing/showers after the trip.
  • Small waist pack or backpack for essentials you want with you on tour. You can wear this bicycle riding, or put it into a small drybag if kayak touring.
  • Any prescription medications necessary during your tour.
Hiking/Nature Tours

 

  • Comfortable clothes:  T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material, especially useful in case of afternoon rain, which is common in Costa Rica. Long sleeve t-shirts are very useful if you get cold easily or want more sun protection.
  • Camera and hiking shoes.
  • Shoes or sandals that can get wet.
  • Binoculars.
  • Water bottle
  • Bug Repellent.
  • Swimsuit / swim trunks.
  • Water-resistant sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or higher).
  • Sun hat or bandana.
  • Croakies or straps to secure glasses.
  • Change of clothes, including shoes, for after your tour.
  • Towel for changing/showers after the trip.

  • Essential personal toiletries
  • Sweater or Sweatshirt (for cool evenings)
  • Reading material

  • Additional clothing – bring HALF what you think you need!
  • Costa Rica is on 110V electricity, the same as the United States.
