  • Health Protocols during COVID-19:  As a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Costa Rica Ministry of Health has defined sanitary measures for tourism business operations.  Going even further, Rios Tropicales has developed its own additional health protocol and sanitary measures for managing its services. These protocols will be continually updated in order to be able to respond at all times to the changing needs and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. Read our detailed 2020 Health Protocol.

There is bill being reviewed by the Costa Rican Congress that would add a sales tax structure to services such as hiking, parks, zoos, rafting, etc. If it is passed and becomes law, it will add a tax of 13% to these services, including tours and transfers; in which case, it will affect the prices presented in this document

Important Refund Information During COVID-19

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of coronavirus, known as COVID-19, to be a global pandemic. Since then, the outbreak has evolved rapidly with governments around the world, working towards slowing down the spread of COVID-19.  In response, our company has been completely shut down from March-August, 2020. Our September 1, 2020 reopening is with important additional COVID-19 Health Protocols in place. We are providing refund coverage for COVID-19 under an “extenuating circumstances policy”, in order to help protect our community and provide peace of mind with any requested refunds.

Whilst our policy to receive refunds in regular circumstances is 90 days, the tourism sector in Costa Rica has been gravely hit and it has been impossible to respond to all requests in said time-frame. Thus, we sincerely appreciate your patience with the processing of your refund, given these unprecedented circumstances. We are doing the very best that we can and value your understanding on this.
